Alanis Nadine's mother was born in Ottawa, Canada, on June 1st 1974. Alanis' Greek is a female form of the name Alan's father's. Her mother's name is Georgia and her brothers are Chad as well as Wade (Alanis"Twin"). She started playing the piano and guitar at the age of was just 21. Alanis released a single in 1986 named Fate Stay with I (b Side: Find The Right Man). Her albums were recorded as a dance-pop performer throughout Canada: Alanis (1991) and the album Now Is The Time (1992). At the age of 18, she made the move from NY to Toronto and her attempts to collaborate with songwriters and musicians failed. They finally found her partner in 1994: Glen Ballard. He had worked with other artists including Aretha, Michael Jackson, and Barbra. In 1994, she made the move to LA when she was 19 years old. Madonna has released "Jagged Little Pill", a song, on June 13, 1995. Alanis was able to come up with the idea of writing songs that was autobiographical and extremely personal. JLP was sold to around 30 million copies in the world and is the most-sold female-oriented album of all time. It is also the third most popular album in history.
