Awkwafina
American musician and actor Awkwafina made her debut with humorous hip-hop tracks that addressed sexuality and identity with a an incisive and humorous perspective, before expanding her repertoire to Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants, was her first music experience. She performed on the trumpet. Jazz, classical and hip-hop training began as she was a teenager. When she was in college, she was focusing on studies, concentrating in journalism and women's studies. for a brief amount during which she lived in Beijing as well, she was also studying Mandarin. It wasn't until she began focusing on music until after she graduated. Her track in 2012 My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success on the Internet which led to her debut LP Yellow Ranger in 2014. Some other hits that went viral included queef song, as well as the winking NYC Bitchethe hometown tour for $. The latter track was linked with another Awkwafina project NYC Travel Guide, which was published in the year 2015. With musician and author on her resume she decided to focus on becoming an actor for a third venture. Alongside early TV shows such as Girl Code and Tawk she was also in films such as Neighbors 2. Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018 she scored breakout role in a few notable films, including Dude Ocean's 8.8 and Crazy Rich Asians. She released the EP, in Fina We Trust in June of the same year.
